What changed on July 1, 2026

MiCA is the European regulation on crypto-assets. On July 1, 2026, the transition period ended across the European Union: to provide services to people who live in the EU, an exchange needs authorization from a European supervisor and must be listed in the ESMA register.

An exchange without that authorization isn’t supervised in the EU. If something goes wrong, you have no European supervisor to complain to.
